You can only get results like the piece below with a wipe-up rag

This is a pic and close-up of the fabric that was untreated cotton with the burlap dye side down , rolled with the brayer and sprayed with the soda ash water

And the last pic is of the pretreated cotton placed on the side of the burlap that didn't have the dye applied to it.

I forgot to take a picture of the burlap...well, next time.
