Portrait

This is a portrait of the doctor who operated on me and removed the cancer. I wanted to make him something special. He is the sweetest man and very gentle and this portrait of him holding one of his lambs is truly a portrait of him.

I forgot to take a photo of the finished piece before I took it to the framers but the picture below is the portrait with 3 layers. You can see a big blob of light next to his ear. This was covered my the fourth and last layer.

Finished, framed and difficult to photograph under glass. The fourth layer was smaller the the first 3 and the "reveal" of 2" looks like a mat. It is really is just the exposure of the third layer.

I made this with the hand dyed fabric from this post. It is the last 4 pieces at the end of the post.

  1. How did you make this, Beth? Is it a photonprinted on your fabric, or photo transfer, or...? What "layers" are you talking about?

  8. An amazing portrait made for a special person. Is this perhaps a photo silk screen? (which is a process I know nothing about...)
