Improv finished

Wrapping up a few projects and here is the improv done. I had three machines threaded with green, lavender, and pink. Made the quilting go faster. This was my first free motion experience on the two Necchis.

  1. It is really lovely. Is the backing felt? Well worth the hours of time.

    1. Yes. All my art textiles get felt but for a bed I use batting/wadding.

    1. Thanks Tina for commenting. When I write these posts I alway wonder if anyone is reading them. This piece was all about the love of sewing. Sewing is not just a mundane activity from the 50's but a tool for creating vibrant art. I made this on two machines from 53 and 59. If the people who bought them back then could see how diversely they being used, drop feed dogs, free motion, I think they would be amazed. The man who manufactured these machines was a true perfectionist. I just love them.

  3. Of course the colorful side is dramatic and vibrant and gorgeous. But the back side: That is a masterpiece! More subtle, but such mastery and design!
