Portmeirion is a tourist village in Gwynedd, North Wales. It was designed and built by Sir Clough Williams-Ellis between 1925 and 1975 in thwe style of an Italian village, and is now owned by a charitable trust. Just before visiting there, the family had lunch in this castle. It was my son's birthday.
Then we walked into Portmeirion
What wonderful places! That's a pleasure to look at them, but also an inspirational occasion.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, but I was taken aback by palm trees in Wales! Not something I would imagine could survive in that climate...
ReplyDeleteI don't know if you remember the 1960's television series The Prisoner, but it was filmed at Portmeirion. Despite spending many summer holidays not far away in Morfa Bychan, I never visited it until I was an adult, but loved it. The views across the estuary to the mountains are stunning.
ReplyDeleteMy DIL's brother loved the series and she bought him all sort of memorabilia about the show. I'm going to try and see if I can find the series online.
DeleteInteresting architecture!
ReplyDeleteIt was like a fantasy village.
