I over dyed it with chartreuse since I am now running low on liquid concentrates. Still hate it. Up for grabs.

This is my sample of how to batik for the workshop. It lay discarded on the garage floor no more.

While washing out one of the indigo vat, I found this piece languishing after 4 days. Whose is it??? Contact me.

The coverlet still not wonderful but certainly bearable.

Saltaire

Saltaire is a village in Yorkshire created as an industrial complex along with housing for the workers and other niceties of village life. It was an idea called Philanthropic Paternalism whereby a factory owner created a village around the industry, in this case a wool and Alpaca spinning mill. Believe me when I say Yorkshire has sheep!!!!

The huge mill is now an art museum, shops and even private residences. When we visited there, there happened to be a Hockney exhibit and all the works were created by David Hockney on an iPad. The were printed (maybe 40 X 60) and framed. They are all of the same road and various times of the year.

Marcella came over and we tried to use up as much of the print paste as possible.

This is a rayon infinity scarf with dried dye paste, stiff like a crinoline 

Washed, dried and as soft as butter

Soda soaked silk so I wanted to dye it asap. I love those spring colors. Crepe de Chine 70" long X 14" wide

Two scraps of fabric that suffered from my pink frenzy

I don't even know where this fabric came from but I thought I might scribble thickened dye on it for a lark. I'll have to over dye it because the fabric is not soda soaked. I don't really care much about it. I just wanted to squirt lines.

After event play time

This may actually go on for quite a while. I have lots of thickened dye and liquid dye concentrate in my refrigerator. Today, being Sunday, I change my sheets. I have a coverlet I throw over my puff which is white to keep dirty dog feet at bay. I spot died this a few years ago because it was white as well and boring. It came out so anemic it was BEGGING to be dyed.

I had this bin in my kitchen to load up all the thickened dyes in quart containers so I decided to use it for the coverlet as well.

I have been searching for the original photo I had taken but you'll have to be happy with this one.

Too pale for me and too much white/light areas. I have a need for color.I added a few quartz of warm water.

Then a scant gallon of left over basic blue (about a pint of concentrate), maybe a quarter cup of intense blue and as much again of fuchsia then the warm water I rinsed the bottle with to bring it close to a gallon. I waited about 15 minutes for the dye to find and migrate into the fibers then...

YES, those are gloves but I didn't use them for the dye, just touching the dye bath after adding soda ash. I really don't like touching soda ash solution.

It actually looks much darker in real life.

Maine Event day three

On day three we did some monoprinting but I didn't take that many pictures. This is a small sampling of what we made. We also did second and third round of stamping of wax on our batiks, more indigo and more silk screening. I was pleased that everyone DID enjoy the monoprinting.
